The United Nations Conventions against Transnational Organized Crime, trafficking in persons is defined as follows:
"Trafficking in persons" shall mean the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation shall include, at a minimum, the exploitation of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labor or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude or the removal of organs.
Red Light Resources International is the ONLY nonprofit in the U.S. targeting Human Trafficking through resource coordination for education, harm reduction and data collection to diverse businesses specifically associated with the travel and tourism industry including business owners, law enforcement, victim advocates and other nonprofit organizations relating to illegal trafficking of children, drugs, labor and sex trafficking. RLRI is committed to the promotion of human, civil and legal rights, especially to those of trafficked persons and travel and tourism businesses through RLRI's shared expertise in training, resources available, domestic and international trafficking law and statistical compilation.
